Close your account

What closing an account deletes, what stays on your computer, and what to do before you press the button.

On this page

Closing your account deletes everything the server holds for it. It can't be undone, so this page covers what to do first.

This is permanent

There is no restore. Once the account is closed, the records on the server are deleted, including the backup copy, and nothing can bring them back.

βœ… Before you close it#

  1. Cancel your subscription first. Closing the account doesn't cancel a card subscription. Open Billing β†’ Manage billing and cancel there, then close the account. See Cancel your subscription.
  2. Make sure the profiles you want are on this computer. Press Sync now on the Account page from each of your computers, so nothing exists only on a machine that hasn't synced recently.
  3. Export what you want to keep. Select your profiles and use Export to write them to a file, and export the cookies of any account whose login matters β€” the profile export doesn't carry cookies. See Back up profiles to a file and Import and export cookies.
  4. Tell your team. If people have joined your workspace, they lose access to it when the account closes.

πŸ—‘οΈ Close the account#

  1. Open Account in the sidebar.
  2. In Your account, click Close account.
  3. Read the dialog Close the account you@example.com? and click Close account.

A toast confirms Account closed on the server, and LoginDeck returns to the sign-in window.

There's no separate password prompt: being signed in is the authority. Only the account's owner can do this, and only from their own workspace β€” the button is hidden while you're inside somebody else's.

πŸ“‹ What happens#

Records on the serverDeleted, along with the backup copy, for every machine.
Profiles already on this computerThey stay. They're files on your disk.
Profiles that exist only on another machine that hasn't synced sinceLost.
Your email addressFree again, so it can be used for a new account.
This computer's free planFree again, so another account can claim it.
Team members of your workspaceThey lose access to it. Their own accounts and their own profiles are untouched.
Your subscriptionNot cancelled by this. Cancel it in Manage billing first.

🧹 Removing the profiles from this computer too#

Closing the account doesn't touch local files. If you want the profiles gone from the machine as well:

  • Delete them in the app first, then empty Recently deleted, or
  • uninstall LoginDeck and delete the folder %APPDATA%\LoginDeck (on a Mac, ~/Library/Application Support/LoginDeck). Uninstalling on its own leaves your data in place.

Deleting profile folders deletes their logins

A profile's cookies and sessions live in that folder. Once it's gone, those accounts have to be signed in to again from scratch.

πŸ€” You might not need to close it#

  • Just stopping the payments? Cancel the subscription and keep the account. The plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to Free β€” nothing is deleted, and profiles over the Free limit are locked rather than removed. See Cancel your subscription and "Free is full", locked profiles and other plan messages.
  • Leaving this computer? Sign out is enough, and changing your password signs out every other computer. See Sign in, sign out and switch accounts.
  • Freeing a computer's free plan for somebody else? Email support@logindeck.com rather than closing an account you might want.

ℹ️ Good to know#

  • The free plan doesn't expire, so an account you leave alone costs nothing and stays as it is.
  • A refund is a separate request. See the refund policy and email support@logindeck.com with your order number. Do it before closing the account, so the address on the order still exists.
  • Questions about any of this: Contact support.
