Delete and restore profiles

Deleted profiles go to Recently deleted for 30 days with their cookies intact, so a misclick is easy to undo.

Deleting a profile doesn't destroy it. It moves to Recently deleted, keeps its cookies and logins, and can be brought back for 30 days. After that it's erased for good.

πŸ—‘οΈ Delete a profile#

  1. On the profile's row, click β‹―.
  2. Click Delete (in red).
  3. Read the dialog and click Move to bin.

To delete several, tick the rows and click Delete in the bar at the bottom. The dialog lists up to six names, then "…and 4 more", and tells you how many are running and will be stopped first.

Deleting frees a slot in your plan straight away.

♻️ Restore a deleted profile#

  1. At the bottom of the left sidebar, click Recently deleted.
  2. Find the profile. Each row shows when it was deleted and how long is left, for example "12 days left".
  3. Click Restore.

The profile comes back with the same cookies and logins it had, so it opens signed in exactly as before.

Restoring needs a free slot

A restored profile takes up a profile slot again. At your plan's limit you'll see a message such as "Free covers 10 profiles and you have 10." Delete a profile you don't need, or move up a plan, then restore. A profile that was locked by your plan comes back locked.

πŸ”₯ Erase a profile for good#

In Recently deleted:

  • Delete forever on a row erases that one. The button changes to Click again to confirm, so click it twice.
  • Empty bin (4) at the bottom erases all of them. It changes to Click again to erase all.

This cannot be undone

Erasing takes the cookies and logins with it. If the account is still live, the only way back in is the password and 2FA. Export the cookies before you erase anything you might want later. See Import and export cookies.

πŸ–₯️ Deleted profiles and your other computers#

Deleting, restoring and erasing all reach your other computers.

  • The browser data (cookies and logins) never travels with the bin. Each computer that had the profile keeps its own copy in its own bin. A computer that never had that data shows (settings only) on the bin row, meaning the settings will come back but not the logged-in session.
  • Emptying the bin empties it on every computer.

So if you want the session back, restore on a computer where the row doesn't say (settings only). See What syncs between your computers.

❓ Common questions#

Does deleting a folder or a tag delete the profiles in it?

No. Deleting a folder moves its profiles to Unfiled. Deleting a tag just takes that label off them. Only Delete on a profile deletes a profile.

Does deleting a profile free up my plan's profile count?

Yes, immediately. Restoring it takes the slot back.

How long do I have to change my mind?

30 days from the day you deleted it. The bin is tidied when the app starts, once a day, and every time you open Recently deleted.

Can I delete a profile that's running?

Yes. LoginDeck stops it first, and the dialog tells you that it will.

Can a locked profile be deleted?

Yes. Locked profiles can be edited, moved, tagged and deleted. They just can't be opened, exported or copied. See "Free is full", locked profiles and other plan messages.

ℹ️ Good to know#

  • The bin holds the whole profile, not just its settings, so a restore is exact.
  • If the profile's browser was still closing when you deleted it, LoginDeck waits a few seconds for the files to be released. If it can't move them, the profile still restores.
