Join a team and switch workspaces
Redeem an invite code from your own account, switch between your workspace and the one you joined, and what changes when you do.
On this page
When someone invites you to their workspace, you don't get their password. You use your own LoginDeck account and hold a key to theirs alongside it.
πͺ Join a workspace#
- Install LoginDeck and sign in to your own account. A free account is fine β you'll be working under the owner's plan, not yours. See Create your LoginDeck account.
- In the left sidebar, click Account.
- Scroll to Workspaces, and paste the code into Join a workspace with an invite code (the field says "paste the code you were sent").
- Click Join.
- A confirmation appears β "Join owner@example.com?" β and summarises what you'll be able to reach. Click Join.
- You'll see "Joined owner@example.com. Switch to it below when you want to work in it."
- On the workspace's row, click Switch to this.
π Switching between workspaces#
The Workspaces panel always lists your own account first β you@example.com (yours), described as "everything β this is your account" β followed by every workspace you've joined, with a summary of your access. The one you're in shows an open pill; the others offer Switch to this.
Switching swaps the whole app over: the profile list, the folders, the tags, the proxies and the Flows all come from that workspace, and they live in a separate folder on disk from your own. Nothing is merged and nothing of yours is touched.
You can tell where you are two ways:
- the status line beside the Account title reads
in owner@example.com's workspace Β· signed in as you@example.com - the account chip at the top right of the window reads in owner@example.com's workspace
LoginDeck reopens in whichever workspace you last used.
To go back to your own: Account β Workspaces β your own row β Switch to this.
π What's hidden while you're in someone else's workspace#
- Teams says the team is managed by its owner: "You are inside owner@example.com's workspace, and its team is managed by its owner. Switch back to your own workspace (Account β Workspaces) to manage yours."
- Billing says "member β the workspace owner manages billing", and "Only the account owner can change the plan for this workspace."
- Change password⦠and Close account are hidden, because they belong to your own account rather than the workspace you're viewing.
- You can't see the owner's computer list or their invoices.
What you can see is the plan's limits and the AI allowance, so the app can explain why something is refused.
βΉοΈ Good to know#
- Your computer counts against the owner's computer limit, not yours. If you're refused with "Computer limit reached", the owner needs a plan with more computers β see Use LoginDeck on another computer.
- Switching back to your own workspace isn't the same as leaving. There's no "leave workspace" button; your membership stays until the owner removes you.
- What reaches your computer stays on your computer. If your access is later withdrawn, you stop receiving anything new, but what already synced is still on your disk.
- The whole proxy library is visible to you, including proxy passwords, even if you only have one folder. See What members can see and do.
- A profile can only be open on one computer at a time. If a teammate has it, you'll see their computer's name. See When someone else has a profile open.
β οΈ Messages you might see#
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Paste the code you were sent." | The field is empty. |
| "that invite code is not readable β check it was copied whole" | Part of the code was lost in transit. Copy it again, all of it. |
| "that invite is not valid β ask for a new one" | It was cancelled, or already used. |
| "that invite has expired β ask for a new one" | Invites last 14 days. |
| "that is an invite to your own workspace" | You already have full access to it. |
| "that workspace has no free seats β ask the owner" | The owner's plan is out of seats. |
| "that workspace's plan has no seat for you right now β ask the owner" | The owner downgraded. You're kept on the roster and let back in when they upgrade. |
| "you no longer have access to that workspace" | The owner removed you. The workspace disappears from your list. |
| "the key for that workspace cannot be opened on this account β ask to be invited again" | The invite was made for a different account. Ask for a fresh one. |
β Common questions#
Do I need to pay for anything to join a team?
No. Your own account can stay on Free. The owner's plan is what covers the work you do in their workspace.
Will joining mix their profiles in with mine?
No. Each workspace has its own list and its own folders on disk. You see one at a time.
How do I leave a team?
Switch back to your own workspace to stop working in theirs. Actually ending the membership is the owner's job β ask them to remove you.
Can I be in more than one team?
Yes. Every workspace you join is listed under Workspaces, and you switch between them.
Do my own profiles sync while I'm in someone else's workspace?
Your own workspace is a separate set of records and syncs under your own plan. Switch to it when you want to work on it.
Can I invite other people once I've joined?
No. Only the workspace owner can invite, change access or remove people.
