Profiles FAQ
Short answers about running, copying, deleting, editing and importing profiles — the questions people actually ask.

Quick answers about profiles. Each one links to the full article if you want the detail.
▶️ Running profiles#
Can I run several profiles at the same time?
Yes, as many as your computer can hold. LoginDeck doesn't cap it, and each profile is a separate browser with its own memory. What runs out is RAM: every open profile is a full Chromium, so plan on a few hundred megabytes each.
Select profiles and press Run on the selection bar to open them one after another. See Open, stop and show profiles.
Can two computers open the same profile at once?
No, and that's deliberate. Two copies of one logged-in session, from two addresses, minutes apart, is exactly what gets an account flagged.
The second computer gets a dialog titled That profile is open on another computer, naming the machine and offering Open here anyway. If the other computer crashed, its claim lapses on its own in about two minutes. See When someone else has a profile open.
What happens if I close a profile the wrong way — X on the browser window?
Nothing bad. Closing the browser window is a normal stop: LoginDeck notices, the row goes back to Run, and the session is saved.
Stop in LoginDeck does the same thing from the other end. Only killing the process in Task Manager risks losing the last few seconds of the session.
Does closing LoginDeck close my profiles?
Yes. Quitting LoginDeck stops every profile browser it has open. On Windows, closing the LoginDeck window is quitting.
So leave the app open while you work, and keep it open if you have schedules — they only run while LoginDeck is running.
How do I make a profile open maximised?
Add --start-maximized to Launch arguments in the profile's editor (or in Settings → Profile defaults so every new profile gets it).
Left alone, the window opens at the size of the fingerprint's screen, which is the honest thing for a site to see.
Why did my profile open without my tabs?
Three possible reasons:
- The profile's Start URL is set to Blank page instead of Previously opened tabs.
- You opened it on a different computer. Open tabs travel with a profile, but only on paid plans, and only once the browser has been closed on the first computer.
- The tab set was too large to carry.
✏️ Editing and organising#
Double-clicking a profile doesn't open the editor. What am I doing wrong?
Nothing — there is no double-click. Open the row's ⋯ menu and click Edit.
Clicking the profile's name renames it in place, which is what catches most people out. See Edit a profile.
How do I find a profile in a long list?
Press Ctrl+F (⌘+F on a Mac) to jump to the search box. It searches names, notes, tags, folders and proxies.
You can also sort by any column and hide the columns you don't use. See Search, sort and choose columns.
Why won't it let me add a ninth tag?
Eight tags per profile is the limit, and extras are dropped without a message. Use a folder for the big split and tags for the labels. See Tags and notes.
What's the difference between a folder and a workspace?
A folder groups profiles inside your own account — one folder per client or platform, one folder per profile.
A workspace is a whole account's worth of profiles. You're always in your own workspace unless you've joined someone's team, and then you switch between them. See Organise profiles into folders and Join a team and switch workspaces.
🗑️ Deleting and restoring#
I deleted profiles by accident. Can I get them back?
Yes. Deleted profiles sit in Recently deleted at the bottom of the left sidebar for 30 days, with their cookies and logins intact. Click Restore. See Delete and restore profiles.
Does deleting a folder delete the profiles in it?
No. The profiles move to Unfiled. Deleting a tag just takes that label off the profiles that had it. Only Delete on a profile deletes a profile.
Does deleting a profile free up a slot on my plan?
Yes, straight away — you can create a new one immediately. Restoring it from Recently deleted takes the slot back.
One thing it does not do: if your plan has locked some profiles, deleting an open one never unlocks a locked one. Only a plan change does that. See "Free is full", locked profiles and other plan messages.
Does a locked profile still have my logins?
Yes. A locked profile keeps its fingerprint, proxy, cookies and saved logins exactly as they were. It just can't be opened, exported, duplicated or have its cookies copied out until a plan covers it again.
🧬 Fingerprints and copies#
Can I duplicate a profile?
Yes: ⋯ → Duplicate. The copy gets its own fingerprint and its own name, and keeps the settings you chose.
Two things to know: the copy does not carry the original's cookies, and its editor may show a cookie count inherited from the original until it's launched or counted. See Duplicate a profile.
If I change a profile's operating system or language, does it get a new fingerprint?
It's rebuilt from the same seed, so it stays as much the same machine as the new choice allows. To get a genuinely different machine, press New fingerprint in the editor.
Changing the fingerprint doesn't touch cookies, so you stay logged in — though a site that has seen the old machine may notice the new one.
Which Chrome version do new profiles use?
The newest one this build offers. An existing profile keeps the version it was created with until you change it, and each version downloads once and is shared by every profile using it. On a Mac, only Chrome 152 is offered today.
🍪 Cookies, extensions and imports#
"stop this profile before importing or exporting its cookies"
Exactly what it says: the browser has the cookie database open. Press Stop, wait for the row to go back to Run, then import. See Import and export cookies.
Will my cookies be saved between sessions?
Yes. Cookies, logins and site data live in the profile's own browser folder on your disk and survive closing the browser, closing LoginDeck, and updating the app.
Getting them onto a second computer is a separate feature: Cookie and session sync, on paid plans.
Do Chrome extensions work?
Yes. Add them to the extension library once — from a Chrome Web Store address or a packaged file — and assign them to whichever profiles need them.
Pick one way and stick to it: once a library extension is assigned to a profile, that assignment is the profile's whole extension set, and anything installed from inside the browser is switched off. Extension files don't sync either, so add them again on your other computer. See Add extensions to profiles.
My import said "Imported 0 profiles". Why?
The file wasn't in a shape LoginDeck recognised, and the reasons don't reach the screen. Things to check:
- Exporting from AdsPower gives an
.xlsx, and the file picker's default filter shows only.csvand.json— switch it to All files. - A CSV from AdsPower needs its original
proxytypeandcookiecolumns to be recognised. - Export a fresh file from the other program rather than editing one by hand.
See Move your profiles from GoLogin, AdsPower, Dolphin and others.
Can I import profiles complete with cookies, proxies and tags?
Cookies and proxies, yes — a competitor's export file carries both, and LoginDeck maps them onto the new profiles. Tags come across when the file has them. Anything missing can be set on the whole selection at once afterwards: Change many profiles at once.
Is my export file safe to email?
No. A profile export contains proxy passwords, saved login passwords and 2FA secrets in plain text. Treat the file like a password vault: keep it local, and delete it when you're done. See Back up profiles to a file.
